Lyon along Eden Street in Bar Harbor. The cottage was built in 1884 and was based on plans by William Ralph Emerson. The house was nearly identical to Brook End, which Emerson designed for Samuel Lyon in 1881. This house was occupied by John DeKoven, who called it Baymeath. When the DeKovens moved to Hulls Cove, they took the name with them. The house was then known as Shore Cottage, and later it was called Uferheim and owned by Uriel Crocker. It was built by John E. Clark and razed around 1939. [show more]

This photograph shows the land-side of the house, and was taken in the off-season, as the vines do not have any leaves and many of the windows and doors are covered with shutters and boards. Pencil writing on the back of this photograph identifies this cottage as "Bournemouth" which is misspelled.
